Fayemi throws weight behind Oyebanji’s second term ambition

A former governor of Ekiti State, Kayode Fayemi on Friday, December 27, threw his weight behind his predecessor’s ambition to run for the state’s number one seat for a second time.

Fayemi while speaking at the All Progressives Congress end-of-year gathering held in Isan Ekiti, his country home broke his silence over the forthcoming governorship election in the state.

Publicly declaring his support for Governor Biodun Oyebanji, the former Ekiti governor said that the date for the 2026 Gubernatorial Election would be disclosed in April 2025.

He also encouraged anyone interested in challenging the incumbent governor to step forward.

The former governor said, “I’m a democrat, so I can’t discourage anyone from contesting for the governorship ticket. Anybody who feels capable can contest.

“But what I’m saying is that as for me and my family, we are for Oyebanji’s second term,” Fayemi said.
