President of Ghana, Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo has urged the security agencies to take a firm stance against any action that threatens the security of the country. n
He says the country’s peace is sacred and will not be sacrificed because of someone’s selfish ambition.
The president made this known when he was addressing the people of Ghana with his Christmas message for the last time as president.
“We must therefore condemn in no uncertain terms the unnecessary acts of violence that has tarnished otherwise an exemplary democratic exercise. Let us not forget that seeking power is not a call to arms but a call to service.
Those who might contemplate of using violence to achieve their aim, know this, our nations peace is sacred, and it will not be sacrificed on the altar of an ambition. The rule of law will prevail no matter what.
I urge the security services to take a firm stance against any action that threatens the stability and harmony of our land. Let us ensure that every election deepens our democracy and fortifies our unity. As the saying goes, peace is not the absence of conflict but the ability to handle conflict by peace means. Let us embrace this principle as our guiding force,”he said.
