Deputy Communications Director for the governing political party, Ernest Owusu Bempah has complained bitterly about how he was neglected during the 2024 elections.
According to him, instead of the political party to leverage on his expertise with strategy, he was not assigned to any particular role in the 2024 elections.
To him, he just had to join the bandwagon just because he is a member of the political party, and that meant he couldn’t be effective.
Ernest Owusu Bempah who was speaking to Accra-based Okay FM in an interview, noted that while strategy plays a key role in winning an election, the NPP did not deploy the best strategies in the 2024 election.
What was even worrying to him was the fact that efforts at drawing the attention of the political party to the seeming apathy among electorates in the Ashanti Region weren’t possible or were not taken seriously.
“Some of us were sidelined in the whole campaign operations. I was just following the bandwagon because I am a national executive. I wasn’t assigned to any specific role to play. Someone like me, who has about 2 million people who follow me in the Ashanti Region, was sidelined.
Even when I am on a campaign platform, they do not invite me to talk. If you look at the young politicians, I am the best political strategist in the country. Strategy is very key in politics. As a political party, you need to be strategic. You are campaigning in an election and you think that bantering Sammy Gyamfi on radio and TV will win you an election? You’ll be making a terrible mistake,” he told Vim Lady.
He complained bitterly about the disregard from the leadership of the party indicating that “one month to election even when you call the leadership of the party to complain to them that there is apathy in the Ashanti region no one picks your calls. Thos who will pick your call will also do that after trying to reach them for over a month”.
