A vice president of Policy Think Tank, IMANI Africa, Kofi Bentil has insisted that no government can remove any security chief in Ghana.
According to him, there is a case pending in the Supreme Court and until the case is settled, it will be contempt in court to remove any security Chief from Office.
He made this known over claims that there are attempts to remove George Akuffo Dampare, PhD, from his position.
To him, Dampare has done well for the country, and rather than remove him, he needs to be maintained to ensure that the Ghana Police Service continues to see progress.
In a post shared via Facebook, Kofi Bentil said “I am breaking my FB leave again to tell all those crazy people attempting to upset the safety and security of Ghana that this nation belongs to us all and you cannot force yourself on anyone without severe consequences!!!
LEAVE DR. DAMPARE ALONE!!
He has done his job for God and Country. And Ghana is better for it. His honest work has led to a tense election settling very quickly. Things would have been far worse if he had not stamped his feet. And he did all of this without Police firing any shot!!!
More importantly
THERE IS A PENDING SUPREME COURT CASE ON THE TENURE OF ALL SECURITY CHIEFS. INCLUDING THE IGP.
AS LONG AS THIS CASE IS NOT CONCLUDED IT IS CONTEMPT OF COURT TO TRY AND REMOVE ANY SECURITY CHIEF.
Any such removal can and should be reversed!!! As unlawful and unwarranted!!!
