APP Raises Alarm Over Fresh Plot Against Rep Member Ugochinyere, Others

The Action Peoples Party (APP) has raised alarm over an alleged plot to frame its National Chairman, Ochiagha Nnadi, and a member of the House of Representatives and spokesperson for opposition lawmakers, Ikenga Ugochinyere, on trumped-up charges.

The party through its National Publicity Secretary, Ugo Apu, said the plot is orchestrated by security agents in collusion with individuals linked to the Federal Capital Territory administration.

The APP claims that the plotters will accuse Nnadi and Ugochinyere of judicial corruption, treason, bribery of judicial officers, and forgery. These allegations, according to the APP, are baseless and aimed at silencing key opposition voices.

The statement said the plot is due to the party’s landslide victory in the Rivers State Local Government election.

Following the election, the party said cases were instituted in court seeking the deregistration of the party.

“Having realised the futility of their cases, they have now resorted to the dark art of attempting to frame our National Chairman, and key opposition voices to silence them and stop them from speaking out against their impunity in PDP, Rivers State and FCT land grabbing scandal,” the statement said.

Ugo Apu has called on Nigerians to be vigilant and not believe “tales by moonlight” or artificially enhanced evidence. He emphasized that these tactics will not undermine the party’s electoral successes or deter the opposition from demanding justice.

“Some people are acting like they own Rivers State and FCT. They have failed to come to terms with the fact that APP has won majority seats in the election. This onslaught will fail, and APP will continue as the fastest-growing political party in Nigeria,” the statement concluded.

Rivers Governor Siminalayi Fubara has been engaged in a tense political battle with his estranged political godfather and predecessor, the minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike.

The feud led to the opposition APP backed by Fubara winning majority seats in recent local government elections.

The legislative arm is also divided into factions loyal to both feuding politicians.
