The Ghana Highway Authority (GHA) has addressed serious allegations raised by Member of Parliament Samuel Nartey George regarding operations at the Akom Axle Load Station.
The statement was issued during a live segment of the program “The Key Points” on Saturday, 14th December on TV3.
“The attention of the Ghana Highway Authority (GHA) has been drawn to a video clip from the program where serious allegations were made,” the GHA spokesperson remarked. “We want to clarify that these claims do not reflect our operational integrity.”
The spokesperson emphasized that the GHA is committed to transparency and accountability. “Pending the outcome of the full investigations, appropriate steps have however been taken to maintain the integrity of operations, including enhanced supervision and reinforced protocols.”
Addressing specific allegations, the GHA stated, “We wish to clarify that the Supervisor in question was not dismissed as has been portrayed. Rather, he temporarily resigned, and when he re-applied for the position six months later, he was not reappointed due to other factors.”
The authority reassured the public of its dedication to upholding standards. “We reaffirm our commitment to a zero-tolerance policy towards corruption.
The necessary investigations have been initiated to ensure that the integrity of the Axle Load Station is maintained.”
In closing, the spokesperson expressed gratitude for the public’s understanding. “Thank you for your understanding and cooperation. We look forward to resolving these issues swiftly.”
