As part of FIFA’s mission to promote the game, protect its integrity, and bring it to all in a safe environment,, WAFU B has organized a one-day Safe Guarding seminar for the Black Maidens at the GFA Technical Center at Prampram.
Safe Guarding Officers Elizabeth Tall and Bernice Bempah from WAFU B and the Ghana Football Association (GFA) respectively took the players through various aspects of the FIFA Guardians programme.
‘’Everyone in football has the right to protection from harassment, abuse, and exploitation – be it physical, emotional, or sexual, neglect, or bullying’’ Elizabeth Tall stressed during the programme.
Members of the football family, such as players, coaches, officials, volunteers, or staff members, are expected to promote safe sport individually and collectively.
The FIFA Guardians Programme provides a framework to help all 211 member associations (MA’s) prevent any risk of harm to children in football and respond appropriately. This is in Article 3 of the FIFA Statutes and in line with Article 23 of the FIFA Code of Ethics.
The Black Maidens are in the Semi-final after topping Group following a 100% winning record over Benin. They will be in action on Thursday, December 19, against the runner-up in Group B in the ongoing WAFU B U-17 Girls Cup.
