VP Kashim Shettima lands in Saudi Arabia for Lesser Hajj


Nigeria’s vice president, Kashim Shettima has arrived Saudi Arabia from Dubai to perform the Lesser Hajj.

The Senior Special Assistant to the President on Media and Communications, Office of the Vice President, Stanley Nkwocha, in a statement on Monday, said Shettima has landed at the Mohammad Bin Abdulaziz International Airport in Madina, Saudi Arabia.

The vice president was said to have been received by Abdulmohsen Bin Nayef Bin Hamed, the Deputy Governor of Madina Region, alongside Nigerian diplomatic officials.

The officials include Consulate General of Jeddah, Ambassador Mu’azzam Nayaya.

During his stay in Saudi Arabia, Shettima would visit the Holy Mosque of the Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) and other holy sites.

He would the proceed to Mecca where he will perform the Lesser Hajj (Umrah).

Subsequently, the vice president would on December 20, hold a bilateral meeting with the President of the Islamic Development Bank (IsDB) in Jeddah.

The agenda for the meeting, Nkwocha said would focus on the co-financing arrangements for the Special Agro-Industrial Processing Zones (SAPZ Phase II).

He would also have discussions on how to enhance the coordination of IsDB projects in Nigeria to support the country’s agricultural and economic development.
