Leader of the NDC caucus in Parliament, Cassiel Ato Forson has indicated that the major lesson learnt from the 2024 elections is that the political class cannot take the people for granted.
To him, the electoral defeat of the NPP gives the political class an indication of self-introspection.
Ato Forson was speaking on the floor of Parliament on December 16 when he made this known.
He said, “Mr Speaker, the lesson in what has happened to the NPP and the outgoing government is that the political class cannot take the people of Ghana for granted”.
Adding that “This calls for introspection on the part of the political class”.
He noted that the NPP’s defeat was a punishment for poor governance, greed, arrogance of power and impunity.
“Mr Speaker, it is obvious that the NPP has been punished for its poor governance, economic mismismanagement, obstinacy, greed, state capture, corruption, arrogance of power, impunity, disrespect, lawlessness and persecution of its political opponents.”
He urged the incoming government to be different and not like the Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo government.
