Despite corruption case, Yahaya Bello pledges loyalty to President Tinubu

The immediate past Governor of Kogi State, Yahaya Bello, has reaffirmed his unwavering loyalty to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC), despite facing ongoing legal battles over alleged corruption charges.

In a statement released on Monday by his Media Director, Ohiare Michael, Bello dismissed reports insinuating a rift between himself and the President.

The former governor described such claims as baseless and a deliberate attempt by political adversaries to tarnish his reputation and create unnecessary tension within the party.

“Our attention has been drawn to a mischievous and baseless report published by an obscure blog, Daily Excessive. The blog attributed fake quotes to our principal, alleging that he intended to expose secrets about how President Tinubu became president. This is utterly false,” the statement read.

Bello accused detractors of using misinformation to exploit his current legal situation, including his ongoing cases with the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC).

He stated that his trials are still in their preliminary stages and emphasized his readiness to cooperate with the legal process while maintaining his innocence.

“The former governor has only taken his plea in court. Trials have not commenced in any of the cases, and the court proceedings remain open for public scrutiny. This further underscores the absurdity of these fabricated claims,” the statement added.

The former governor reiterated his steadfast support for President Tinubu’s administration, describing the President as a capable leader with a clear vision for Nigeria.

Bello also hinted at taking legal action against the blog that published the controversial report, vowing to hold the purveyors of fake news accountable.

Despite the challenges posed by his legal battles, Bello has urged Nigerians to focus on supporting the administration’s goals and policies, pledging to stand firmly with the APC and President Tinubu in the quest for national development.
