Former Minority Leader, Haruna Iddrisu has disclosed that John Dramani Maham will complete the National Cathedral.
However, this will be subject to a meeting with the church on whether the country needs a cathedral.
He indicated that the president-elect is too smart to use state cash to fund the building of the National Cathedral.
Haruna Iddrisu made this known when he told TV3 in an interview that the new government will ensure the completion of projects started the Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo government subject to value for money.
“Completion of national cathedral but not with stage funds. President Mahama is smarter than that. If this country needs a cathedral, he will together with the church sit down and decide what to do with it but not with state resources, not with public resources and not the waste we are seeing over there.
When we say exacting accountability, how can $38 million and you’re swimming in it? What have you seen? Is that worth $38 million,” he said.
Ghanaians have kicked against the construction of the National Cathedral which is a personal pledge of Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo to God.
The construction of the Cathedral has been fraught with scandals; and could be one of the reasons why the New Patriotic Party was kicked out of government.
