Miracles Denis Aboagye, spokesperson for Vice President Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia’s 2024 general election campaign, has painted a sympathetic picture of the New Patriotic Party’s leader, describing him as a victim of circumstances beyond his control.
Speaking candidly about the Vice President’s recent electoral challenges, Aboagye suggested that Dr. Bawumia bore the brunt of political repercussions for issues that were not of his making.
In an interview, he expressed how many people within and outside the party view Dr. Bawumia.
“One of the things that are quite clear in these conversations is that everybody seems to sympathize with Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia as a candidate who is a victim of circumstances,” he explained.
He further elaborated, saying, “It’s as if sins were brought upon him, which he had no control over, at a time when he was pursuing his own mission.”
Aboagye called for a shift in approach, urging Bawumia to foster reconciliation and open dialogue with disillusioned party members and voters.
He suggested that Bawumia must address the grievances of those who may have punished him for the failings of a system he could not fully influence.
“He has a responsibility at this point to reach out to these people and say, ‘I understand you have punished me for these things, but shall we have a conversation? Shall we talk to see if we can heal these wounds and find a common path forward into the future?’”
