Black Maidens advance to WAFU B U-17 Girls Cup semis with a thrilling 3-2 win over Benin


Getrude Amoafo’s brilliant second-half performance propelled the Black Maidens into the semi-finals of the ongoing WAFU B U17 Girls Cup, as they edged Benin 3-2 at the GFA Technical Center.

The young Beninoise team started strong, taking the lead through Yenido Gandonou in the 12th minute. However, Ghana’s Getrude Amoafo equalized in the 37th minute, and Priscilla Mensah added a second goal just before halftime.

In the second half, Benin pushed hard for an equalizer, but Ghana’s defense held firm until Yenido Gandonou scored again in the 80th minute. Getrude Amoafo sealed the win for Ghana with a stunning goal in the 84th minute.

With this victory, the Black Maidens top Group A with six points and advance to the semi-finals, where they will face the second-placed team in Group B.
