Two bandits killed while testing explosives in Zamfara

Two suspected bandits met their end during a botched attempt to test Improvised Explosive Devices (IEDs) at a camp associated with notorious extremist leader Bello Turji in Zamfara State.

According to intelligence sources, the incident occurred in Barikin Daji Village and Dan Bagudu Hills, both in Talata Mafara Local Government Area.

The mishap reportedly happened under the supervision of Dogo Auta, a key lieutenant of Turji.

Credible reports reveal that the extremist group had recently received a shipment of weapons, ammunition, and materials for IED production.

The materials, delivered by camels, were intended to escalate attacks as directed by Turji.

Zagazola reports that the explosion created panic among residents in nearby communities such as Garin Gwale Village, forcing many to flee their homes.

Extremist groups in northwest Nigeria are increasingly utilizing IEDs to target military installations and civilian areas.

Security experts warn that the availability of explosives from illegal mining in the region could heighten attacks by bandits and terrorist groups.
