You’ll be made to face the law

The National Youth Organizer for the National Democratic Congress (NDC), George Opare Addo, has warned young people engaged in vandalism across the country to desist from their activities.

He does not mince words when he says they will be made to face the full rigors of the law.

In a statement shared via social media, George Opare Addo sent a word of caution indicating that “the NDC Youth Wing calls upon any member involved in these activities to cease immediately and allow the authorities, party leadership, and the soon-to-be-named transition team to focus on protecting state properties from theft and potential capture by supporters of the outgoing government”.

Meanwhile, President-elect John Dramani Mahama says he is not yet president and therefore, the current government must act decisively on the matter.

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

STOP ATTACKING STATE PROPERTIES

Accra, 10th December 2024 – In the wake of the historic victory of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) in the recent general elections, there have been multiple reports of vandalism at state enterprises and the seizure of state properties by unknown individuals. Some reports allege that these acts are being carried out by members of the NDC.

While we have not yet clearly identified these individuals or confirmed their affiliation with the NDC, we unequivocally condemn these actions and urge calm. We call for an immediate end to these senseless and harmful activities.

Our internal investigations indicate that some of the vandalism across the nation may also be perpetrated by disgruntled members of the NPP, frustrated by their defeat and the shortcomings of their leaders.

Nevertheless, there is no justification for these actions so soon after a significant moment for our nation.

Through this statement, the NDC Youth Wing calls upon any member involved in these activities to cease immediately and allow the authorities, party leadership, and the soon-to-be-named transition team to focus on protecting state properties from theft and potential capture by supporters of the outgoing government.

Ghanaians have placed their trust in the vision of His Excellency John Dramani Mahama, and it is now our responsibility to assist him in achieving his objectives for the country. As party members, we must uphold the reputation of our organization as a peaceful and law-abiding entity.

This is a clarion call for a complete and immediate end to these actions. We will take lawful measures against anyone found guilty of stealing or misappropriating state resources, and we will act as soon as possible.

Signed

George Opare Addo Esq.

National Youth Organizer,

National Democratic Congress.
