Political Science Lecturer at the University of Ghana, Prof. Ransford Gyampo has urged the New Patriotic Party to save itself from the claws of Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo.
He believes that the results of the 2024 elections indicate that the political party needs to return to its roots.
Gyampo believes that apart from Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo, the other persons who have to be shown the exit are the current crop of party leadership.
A total overhaul he believes will help make the political party rebuild and regain its lost glory.
“This is a potential decimation of the NPP. It was caused by themselves. Let the party be rescued from the claws of Akufo Addo and his remnants, and let the entire National Executives be overhauled to restore the party to its tradition,” he said via a post on social media.
The NPP was beaten by the National Democratic Congress (NDC) in the 2024 election by 56%, a defeat never experienced by any political party in the country.
Analysts have said that the election was a referendum on Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo’s bad leadership over the eight years in office.
