The Executive Director of the Ghana Center for Democratic Development Ghana (CDD-Ghana), Prof. Henry Kwasi Prempeh, has described the current New Patriotic Party (NPP) as a neo-NPP.
He is of the view that the proper New Patriotic Party (NPP) known to everyone was the one that entered Parliament in 2000 and not the current abridged version.
Adding that the known NPP is the one that defeated Jerry John Rawling’s NDC in 2000 to govern Ghana under the leadership of John Agyekum Kufour.
Sharing his view via social media, Prof. Henry Kwasi Prempeh said “NPP is the party that first entered Parliament in 1997 and defeated Rawlings’ NDC in 2000. The party that just got crushed by NDC is neo-NPP. Not one and the same. Take note”.
The New Patriotic Party (NPP) lost the 2024 elections to the National Democratic Congress (NDC). The election, according to analysts, is a referendum on the poor administration of Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo.
There have been calls for the political party to rebuild and make an impact in the country’s politics.
