You can remove Kemi from your name, Nigeria remains giant of Africa, VP Shettima blasts UK Conservative leader

Nigeria’s vice president, Kashim Shettima has condemned the disparaging of Nigeria by the leaders of the United Kingdom’s Conservative Party, Kemi Badenoch.

Shettima who spoke at the 10th Annual Migration Dialogue at the State House in Abuja on Monday, December 9, accused Kemi of degrading Nigeria.

Stating that Nigeria still remains the Giant of Africa, Shettima said Nigerians are still proud of Kemi’s achievements in the UK.

He said, “Kemi Badenoch, the leader of the British Labour or Conservative Party. We are proud of her despite her efforts at denigrating her nation of origin.

“She is entitled to her own opinions; she has even every right to remove the Kemi from her name but that does not underscore the fact that the greatest black nation on earth is the nation called Nigeria,” the vice president said.

He added that immigrants have continued to form the baseline of every nation’s development process and for that no one can belittle their impact.

He said, “One out of every three, four black men is a Nigerian, and by 2050, Nigeria will support the United States and will be the third most populous nation on earth.”

Shettima’s outburst follows Kemi allegations that Nigerian politicians are A-gamers in the mismanagement and embezzlement of public funds.

Kemi’s allegation did not sit well with several politicians including, the chairman of the Nigerians in Diaspora Commission (NIDCOM), Abika Dabiri-Erewa who said that her office has tried to reach out to Badenoch on different occasions but got no response.
