A leading member of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) and the Director General for the National Lotteries Authority (NLA), Sammi Awuku is optimistic the NPP will win the 2024 elections through the ballot.
He says he is expecting the Electoral Commission to handle the elections with tact to ensure that the country records free, fair, and credible elections.
Sammi Awuku, who is going to Parliament for the first time, believes that by December 8, the New Patriotic Party will have had a majority in Parliament.
“The Electoral Commission so far has done well. When there are issues they respond to it, when there are issues they lead the narrative but they shouldn’t wait for the issues to happen because some of the issues can be addressed at the early stages. That is where sometimes I think they should be up and doing,” he told Serwaa Amihere.
He continued while speaking to Accra-based GhOne Television saying “But in terms of the narrative, the electoral commission when there are issues they are prompted they respond to keep the populace up to speed but they owe it as a duty that the polls are fair, credible so that the generality of the masses will accept the results. So far I will score them high mark. However, the NPP will not be doing the PR work for the EC”.
To Sammi Awuku there is no electoral process that does not have hitches; however, these hitches are worked on democracy continues to grow to ensure perfection is achieved.
