N-Power training tools lost as fire destroys federal govt’s warehouse in Abuja

A fire outbreak at the National Social Investment Programme Agency (NSIPA) warehouse in the Idu industrial area of Abuja has destroyed tools worth billions of Naira intended for training beneficiaries of the N-Power initiative.

The Minister of State for the Ministry of Humanitarian Affairs and Poverty Reduction, Dr. Yusuf Sununu, has ordered the formation of a five-member committee to investigate the incident and assess the damage.

The committee, which has been given two weeks to submit its findings, will also recommend measures to safeguard other warehouse assets across the country.

Dr. Sununu visited the site and assured that the ministry would expedite the training of beneficiaries to utilize the remaining tools.

“The Committee will estimate the cost of the items gutted by the fire.

“With what has happened, we will put measures in place to ensure that all other items in our warehouses are well protected,” he said in a statement issued by Rhoda Ishaku, Director of Information and Public Relations.

The minister extended his gratitude to the Federal Fire Service, FCT Fire Service, and Julius Berger for their quick intervention in containing the fire.

He also commended the Nigeria Police, Life Camp Division, for providing security to prevent vandalism of the remaining items.
