Lawyer dismisses reports of Pastor Tobi Adegboyega’s deportation from UK

Mr Dele Olawanle, legal representative for Tobi Adegboyega, a flamboyant Nigerian pastor based in the United Kingdom, has denied claims that the British government plans to deport his client.

Reports circulated that Adegboyega, founder of SPAC Nation, faced deportation following allegations of £1.87 million fraud linked to his church.

The UK Charity Commission had previously shut down SPAC Nation over accusations of operating without proper financial transparency.

Additionally, a report from The Telegraph alleged that a tribunal ruling favoured deportation due to these controversies.

Reacting to the reports, Olawanle described them as baseless and a misunderstanding of immigration laws.

Writing on X (formerly Twitter), he stated: “I could not stop laughing when I read that Tobi Adegboyega faces deportation from the United Kingdom… Deportation is for criminals. He is not.”

Olawanle stated that Adegboyega has resided in the UK for over two decades without any criminal record and has made significant contributions to the British community.

While acknowledging the challenges faced by SPAC Nation, he clarified that Adegboyega was not personally implicated in any wrongdoing.
