The controversial Tax Reform Bill proposed by President Bola Tinubu has received backing from Senators from the South South region of Nigeria.
The senator’s said they are in total support of the bill and the leadership of Godswill Akpabio, the Senate President.
In a communique issued on Thursday in Abuja, the lawmakers said their support for the controversial bill stems their commitment to boost the national revenue and improve Nigeria’s growth.
The communiqué was signed by Senator Seriake Dickson (Chairman), Senator Jarigbe Agom Jarigbe (Secretary), Senator Barinada Mpigi, Senator Adams Oshiomhole, Senator Neda Imasuen, Senator Munir Ned Nwoko, Senator Thomas Joel-Onowakpo, Senator Aniekan Bassey, Senator Asuquo Ekpenyong, and Senator Allwell Onyeso.
Other signatories to the communique are Senator Ipalibo Banigo, Senator Benson Agadaga, Senator Konbowei Benson, Senator Eteng Jonah Williams, Senator Ekong Sampson, and Senator Ede Dafinone.
It said, “The South-South Senators unanimously agreed and passed a vote of confidence in the Senate President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria.”
They further pledged go support Akpabio as the leader of the senate and ensure the effective and timely passage if the bill go the benefit of every Nigerian.
