Don’t let politicians deceive you – Opoku Onyinah lauds Ghana’s electoral system

Member of the Board of Trustees for the National Cathedral and Immediate past Chairman of the Pentecost Church, Rev Opoku Onyinah has urged Ghanaians to have trust in the electoral processes.

He is of the firm believe that the countty’s electoral processes is the best and will not be used to rig the election in favour of a specific candidat.

Opoku Onyinah who made this known in a post shared via social media encouraged the youth especially not to fall for any politician who for his/her parochial interest will incite them to cause trouble.

His post shared via social media read “ God is deeply interested in Ghanaians and our participation in the democratic process. As we prepare to vote on 7th December, it is important that you cast your ballot for the individual you believe can lead the nation with integrity and good governance. God will not directly choose a leader for us; He has chosen to work through humanity. Therefore, you must prayerfully and thoughtfully use your reasoning to make a wise choice.
The Bible provides examples of how God used leaders like Cyrus and Darius to accomplish His purposes. In the same way, He can use the leader (and leaders) we collectively elect to bring about His will. After you have voted, trust the electoral process and accept that the candidate with the majority of votes will be declared the winner. Ghana’s electoral systems are sound and reliable, so do not allow any selfish politician or individual to mislead you into violence or chaos.
It is crucial to plan for success and also prepare to accept defeat. If the election outcome were predetermined, there would be no need for voting. While everyone desires victory, we must remain committed to peace and democracy by being willing to accept the results. Remember, leadership is not achieved through violence, abuse, or manipulation.
A politician may seek power to rule, but a true statesman seeks the opportunity to serve the nation selflessly. Where do you stand?
May the Lord guide us in this election so that, in the end, we can all thank Him for leading us to a peaceful and fruitful outcome”.
