The Greater Accra Regional Chairman of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), Emmanuel Nii Ashie Moore, has expressed optimism about the party’s prospects in the Ablekuma Central constituency.
Speaking to the media during the nationwide Special Voting exercise, Mr Moore stated that if the general elections were held today, the NDC would likely secure victory in the constituency.
“I am confident that this special voting exercise in this constituency would have favored the NDC if it were the general election. We would sweep not less than 56% of the votes,” Moore declared.
He also assured supporters that the party would safeguard every vote, stating, “We will protect every vote, even if it’s just half of one.”
Moore commended the peaceful conduct of the special voting exercise and praised the efforts of security personnel and other participants for ensuring a smooth process.
The Electoral Commission (EC) of Ghana conducted the Special Voting exercise nationwide today as a precursor to the general elections scheduled for Saturday, December 7, 2024.
Initially planned to take place at 328 centers nationwide, the exercise was rescheduled in the Western and Eastern Regions due to the recall of ballots. The affected regions will now conduct their Special Voting on Thursday, December 5, 2024.
The EC reported that a total of 131,478 voters, representing approximately 0.007% of the total registered voter population of 18,741,159, were expected to participate in the exercise. Voting commenced at 7:00 AM and concluded at 5:00 PM across the designated centers.
