Like Cyrus, I believe my path is divinely appointed to lead Ghana-Bawumia

In a heartfelt speech at the Ga Palace, Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, the New Patriotic Party (NPP) presidential candidate, compared his political journey to the biblical story of Cyrus, the Persian king who liberated the Jewish captives and facilitated their return to their homeland.

He drew this parallel to underscore his belief that, like Cyrus, his mission is divinely ordained to overcome challenges and lead Ghana toward a brighter future.

The event, which took place at the Ga Palace, was hosted by King Tackie Teiko Tsuru II, with a gathering of Ga traditional leaders, dignitaries, and community members.

Bawumia, addressing the assembly, shared that his journey toward the presidency has not been without obstacles. He recalled the skepticism he faced from many who doubted his ability to secure the NPP flagbearer position, particularly because of the party’s perception as an “Akan party.”

“In the eyes of many, my chances were slim,” Bawumia reflected, “There was doubt, especially when people believed the NPP would always choose an Akan leader. But just as Cyrus was chosen by God to fulfill a purpose against all odds, I too believe that my path has been set for a purpose.”

Bawumia’s rise to become the NPP’s flagbearer, despite fierce competition from ten other candidates, marked a significant moment in his political journey. His victory in the primaries, he believes, is a testament to his divine calling and a sign of the destiny he hopes to fulfill for Ghana. His message was clear: overcoming these early hurdles was just the beginning of a greater mission.

“Just as God used Cyrus to lead His people to freedom, I believe my victory in the primaries signifies that my path is divinely appointed,” Bawumia said, his voice filled with conviction. “Now, I stand before you, seeking the support of the Ga State to help me fulfill my destiny and lead Ghana to the prosperity we all deserve.”

For Bawumia, his connection with the Ga community is crucial, as he seeks to unite Ghanaians across all ethnic groups in his vision for the nation. “Ghana is bigger than any one group,” he added. “We all share in the dream of a prosperous, peaceful, and united nation, and I believe, with the support of the Ga people and all Ghanaians, we can make this dream a reality.”
