Your rift with Kufuor will hurt your Presidential bid

With the December elections fast approaching, political tensions are reaching new heights, and one of the most discussed topics is Alan Kyeremateng’s recent public outburst against former President John Agyekum Kufuor.

On Vim Lady’s program on Okay FM, Solomon Yaw Nkansah, former Communications Officer of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), offered his analysis of how Kyerematen’s remarks might affect his bid for the presidency.

Nkansah believes that Alan’s criticisms not only signal a deeper rift with his mentor but also undermine his chances of winning the upcoming elections.

Nkansah was clear about his concerns, noting that Alan’s harsh comments toward Kufuor, a figure once seen as a mentor, reveal a lack of political stability. “This is not just about a personal dispute,” Nkansah explained.

“When you publicly attack the very person who helped pave your political way, you’re weakening your own foundation. Alan’s remarks show a lack of resolve and send the wrong message to his supporters.”

In addition, Nkansah pointed out the consequences this rift might have in the Ashanti Region, an area that has traditionally been a stronghold for the New Patriotic Party (NPP).

The region has long been a key area of support for Alan, especially among Ashanti extremists loyal to Kufuor. However, Nkansah believes that these same individuals are now distancing themselves from him after his outburst regarding Kufuor’s endorsement of Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia.

“The Ashanti Region was once Alan’s base, but now, with Kufuor backing Bawumia, Alan’s support there has started to diminish,” Nkansah said. “Those who were once with him are turning away, and that benefits Bawumia as he strengthens his own position.”

Nkansah went on to emphasize that Kufuor’s endorsement of Bawumia is a significant boost for the NPP’s flagbearer. “Kufuor’s backing has given Bawumia additional credibility, and it will certainly help solidify his position in the upcoming election,” he added.
