Executive Council Member Urges Young Referees to Stay Focused on Their Careers 


Executive Council member Samuel Aboabiri has urged young referees Angelious Akurugu Adongo and Nazifah Jenenuba to remain steadfast and focused as they build promising careers in officiating. Both referees played vital roles in the recently concluded African Schools Football Championship in Niger.

Angelious Akurugu Adongo officiated the final match between Benin and Ivory Coast, delivering a performance that caught widespread attention for its professionalism and precision. Nazifah Jenenuba, who served as the fourth official for the same match, also impressed with her composure and commitment to duty.

Speaking during a ceremony held at the headquarters on Monday to welcome the team, Samuel Aboabiri applauded the duo for their exceptional contributions to the tournament and urged them to continue excelling in their craft.

“Angelious and Nazifah, your performance in Niger, especially during the finals, was remarkable. Angelious, your officiating stood out and earned the admiration of many. It shows that with focus and hard work, you can reach greater heights in your refereeing careers,” he stated.

As the leader of Ghana’s delegation to the championship, Aboabiri expressed pride in their achievements and emphasised the importance of discipline and dedication in achieving success. He encouraged them to see this milestone as the beginning of a long journey in officiating.

“We are all proud of you, but this is just the beginning. Stay focused, be disciplined, and continue to improve. The future of refereeing in Ghana looks bright with talents like yours,” he added.

The achievements of Angelious and Nazifah at the African Schools Football Championship underscore Ghana’s growing reputation for producing world-class refereeing talent. Their performances at the international level reflect the high standards of training and mentorship they have received.
