“I should have gone to Euro 2024,” Grealish claims

Jack Grealish has been one of the new additions to the England squad following Gareth Southgate’s departure. The Manchester City winger missed the last European Championship due to a technical decision and that is still a thorn in his side.

He said in an interview with the BBC: “I wasn’t very happy about it. I didn’t have my best season, but you need a bit of balance in all positions on the pitch, and now I consider myself a pretty experienced player”.

And he left a message for Gareth Southgate, former manager and the man responsible for leaving him out: “I’ve won a lot of things already, so if you ask me if I should have gone, yes, I still think I should have gone, but obviously I didn’t.”

He also praised interim coach Lee Carsley: “Of course, I wanted to come here and train well and play well. I thank coach Lee Carsley for giving me that opportunity and having that confidence in me.”

Obviously, it meant a lot to me. I think throughout my career, when I’ve played with coaches who have shown confidence in me and communicated with me like he did the last two camps, it really helps me. It makes me feel like the coach really values me and I can’t speak highly enough of him since I’ve been here,” Grealish concluded.
