Queen Camilla reportedly discouraged King Charles III from reuniting with his estranged son, Prince Harry, during the latter’s most recent visit to the UK.
Charles reportedly wanted to meet with his youngest son while he’s in the UK this week, but his counsel — as well as Camilla — don’t think it’s a good idea, per the Daily Beast.
An insider close to the queen, 77, told the outlet that they don’t want Charles, 75, to undergo unnecessary stress before he leaves for a trip to Australia later this month.
“She has been the principal voice urging Charles to slow down and take things easy. The last thing she wants him to do is to get stressed out over a meeting with Harry,” the friend explained to the outlet.
However, a friend of Charles also told the outlet that he wants his estrangement with Harry, 40, to be “settled” for “personal reasons and to ease pressure on the monarchy itself.”
“The king has an instinctive impulse towards Christian reconciliation, and his cancer diagnosis has only sharpened that,” the friend said.
“He wants this settled, not just because he loves both his sons, but because it has been so destabilizing for the monarchy.”
Over the weekend, Harry arrived in London to attend the 2024 WellChild Awards, a charity that works with sick kids that he has been involved with for nearly 20 years.
Prior to the touching ceremony, a source confirmed to People that the Duke of Sussex had “no plans” to see his father or brother Prince William, 42.
Harry was last in the UK last month to attend the funeral service for his late maternal uncle, Lord Robert Fellowes, in Norfolk, England.
William was also in attendance for the service, but the two reportedly kept their distance.
Harry was also across the pond in May for the tenth anniversary of his Invictus Games. He didn’t visit his brother or father during that trip either.
As of now, sine their estrangement, Harry has only met with his father after Charles announced his cancer diagnosis in February.
Harry and his family have had a strained relationship ever since he and his wife, Meghan Markle, decided to quit their royal duties in early 2020. The divide was solidified when the couple made several allegations about racism against them in interviews and his bombshell memoir, “Spare.”
Sources have previously told Page Six that Harry will reconcile with his father if Charles grants him and Markle the security that was previously revoked after they left the family.
Harry’s most recent trip to the UK comes just days after he visited New York City where he was spotted at a tattoo parlor, getting spooked with Jimmy Fallon and speaking at the Clinton Foundation.
